Pipelines in the processing industry are used to transport materials other than gas or liquid, which means that the piping system must be cleaned regularly cleaned from the inside. Process pipelines in the mining industry, in particular, may be clogged up by various kinds of sludge and other solids. Over time, accumulating particles decrease the diameter of pipelines and their flow.

Traditionally, cleaning is carried out by putting a cleaning ball into the pipeline and running it through the system using pressurised air. This method is used in leaning sewage and concrete mixing vehicle piping , for example.

The system, designed and patented by SKM Service, is built in a container and can be delivered all around the world. The pipe cleaning system is also marketed under the name ‘Pig Feeding System’. The first system has been delivered to Agnico Eagle Kittilä Mine and it has received excellent feedback from the client.

The cleaning equipment is safe and can be operated by one person. The container can be fixed or moved between various sites, depending on the client’s needs. The system consists of a DC 20´ sea container (6 m), with inbuilt pipeline cleaning equipment. The container is installed close to the pipeline to be cleaned.
